A white-mensural octuple whole note with stem facing down.
Notation for a rest of the value of a octuple whole note. It has the width of a whole note or half note rest and the height of a quadruple whole note rest.

The octuple whole note (also called a maxima, duplex longa, or larga) is a note that has a value of 8 times a whole note, which is where it gets its name. In the 44 time signature it has a value of 32 beats or 8 measures.
